Fire Safety and Water Security

  • Work with other agencies to obtain substantial State/federal fire-safe funds.

  • Permanently secure Nevada City’s water supply.

  • Improve our town’s power outage preparedness.

  • Bolster our neighborhood FireWise Community committees, aggressively seek grants for a Comprehensive Fire Safety Plan and Urban Forest Plan and implement it.

Economic strength and diversity

  • Preserve our historic downtown business district.

  • Support the Seven Hills Business District.

  • Nurture our existing businesses, arts, and non-profit organizations.

  • Seek new evolving business types.

Community services

  • Help our vulnerable population (the disabled, addicted, and unhoused) gain access to the service they need.

  • Support training our police officers to work with the complex needs of the people they serve.

  • Attract, support, and retain the best city employees possible.

Protect and enhance our open spaces

  • Continually seek grant funds to protect and improve our Deer Creek Environs, Sugarloaf, Hirschman’s Pond, and Pioneer Park.

  • Acquire BLM land east of City, site of our Water Treatment Plant.

  • Find a productive, city-based use for the Old Nevada City Airport including the proposed park.

Neighborhoods and housing

  • Protect the character of our residential neighborhoods, the essence of our community.

  • The quality of life in both our historic and newer residential neighborhoods is paramount to why we who live and work here all treasure Nevada City and must always be a top priority.

  • Make sure we continue to provide our fair share of housing for all incomes.
